PMDG has taken to their forums to give a brief update on how things are progressing with the upcoming 777 for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The most anticipated aircraft add-on by the community is progressing well, according to Robert Randazzo.
“Our upcoming flagship of the fleet, the PMDG 777 continues to make solid progress through the beta testing period,” Robert said on the forums. He continued to then give some behind-the-scene information how what exactly is happening at PMDG with regards to the testing. Currently, the team is working on beta build 5 and putting the 777 through its paces by conducting short-haul sectors from battery-on to batter-off. This allows the team to go through many flight cycles to pick up any issues and bugs.
So far, nearly 360 issues have been reported, with 263 already fixes. With the team spending time away from their PCs over Christmas, some things slowed down a little, but as the year now continues, PMDG expects pace to build back up.
As for further previews, Robert did hope to showcase the flight deck this week. However, his fellow developer, Vin, asked to hold off whilst some polish takes place to ensure that the previews come out in tip-top shape. Once we see those, we’ll be sure to share them.
PMDG 737
The 777 isn’t the only item on PMDG’s agenda, as there is still work ongoing for the PMDG 737 for MSFS. In particular, the team has been working on bringing Xbox capability in-line with the PC version. The team has now got a build in the Xbox test environment and was able to pass on information to Asobo about an issue that Microsoft Flight Simulator on Xbox communicates differently in some aspects than on PC. This rendered the Universal Flight Tablet useless on the console. However, with the information with Asobo, it is hopeful a fix can be issued to the sim to enable the UFT on Xbox.
Furthermore, various PMDG livery packs are being updates, but a snag in the distribution system meant that there was a delay. This is now fixed and those updates should be on their way to customers.
As usual, we’ll be sure to keep you posted on any further news from PMDG. For more on PMDG, check out the 777 previews we saw around the holiday period.
