Last week PMDG shared their first teaser image of the upcoming 777 for MSFS, which left many speculating on the status of the project. Robert Randazzo took to the forums again with a lengthy update on the aircraft. Luckily we’ve been able to summarise it for you: PMDG’s 777 has entered beta testing.
With the aircraft now in beta testing, it can be assumed by the definition of the word that PMDG’s 777 is feature complete, and the team is now putting the aircraft through its paces to discover bugs and other issues. This also means that we’ll start seeing more 777 previews soon, as the developer is gearing up towards an eventual release of the aircraft. For now, we’ll need to make do with a single preview of the aircraft, which seemingly shows the business-class section of the aircraft.
Although no official mention was made of the aircraft, Robert did subtly hint at other PMDG projects coming down the line, stating “multiple products going into beta testing in rapid succession now”. While the existence of a Boeing 737 MAX has been all but confirmed, eagle-eyed Discord members have spotted a PMDG Beta Team member flying a B38M around Seattle Paine Field. B38M of course being the ICAO code for the Boeing 737 MAX 8. This could indicate that the 737 MAX is closer than we’ve previously been thinking, although this remains speculation for now.
Universal Flight Tablet Update
While the team is busy with the beta test for the 777, the recently released Universal Flight Tablet also got a little bit of love from the development team. These contain mostly smaller, quality-of-life improvements, and will be available in an update later this week.
