In a send-off post to round up the company’s busy 2023, MK-Studios has confirmed that some of their oldest sceneries for Microsoft Flight Simulator are to receive a ‘V2’ update in 2024.
The post, which was made on the company’s Facebook page yesterday, recaps the studio’s 6 new releases 2023. These were Malaga, Kangerlussuaq, Montreal, Philadelphia, Bologna and the coveted Dublin V2.
It also confirms that work is currently underway on 5 more airports, of which 2 are slated for release in February and March. The details of these airports are currently unknown, although the team do confirm that one of them is in Europe and the other in the United States.
The three remaining sceneries are all confirmed to be V2 upgrades to Helsinki (EFHK), Keflavik (BIKF) and Lisbon (LPPT). Although no specifics are given as to the level of detail that these updates will cover, we already know from the Dublin V2 update that the MK-Studios team can go to great lengths to cover the full breadth of detail present in large international airports.
Commenting on their decision, the team writes in their post “In 2024, we’ll focus on bringing our older products to the same level [as newer sceneries]. Some were released in the very early days of MSFS when P3D was still on the top, and the tool available to use were limited”.
The team is also inviting users to suggest which sceneries they should work on in the new year – if you’d like to share your thoughts with the team, feel free to reply on their Facebook post.
