During the Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft announced Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The newly announced title, coming in 2024, looks to expand on the 2020 release with a range of new features and types of flight.

In the trailer, we saw the following new missions and features:

  • Search and rescue missions
  • Aerial Firefighting
  • Helicopter cargo transport
  • Air Ambulance
  • Agricultural aviation
  • Mountain Rescue
  • Skydive aviation
  • Aerial Construction
  • Industrial Cargo transport
  • Remote cargo ops
  • VIP Charter services
  • Air Racing
  • Glider Pilot
  • Scientific research
  • Airship Tours
  • Hot air balloon trips
  • Executive Transport Service

The trailer teased this as the “next generation of flight simulation”. The new simulator will take full advantage of the latest technology in simulation. This includes cloud and machine learning, as it will be powered by a “significantly evolved Asobo Studio engine.”

In a post on the Flight Simulator blog, it has been confirmed that this is a brand-new entry into the series, not simply a paid-for DLC or expansion pack.
