The latest City Update is now available for Microsoft Flight Simulator. City Update 6: Southwest Germany covers one of the biggest countries within Europe and updates a number of big cities within Germany. Furthermore, it also includes a new hand-crafted airport – all of which is completely free of charge.
This update focuses on the Southwest German state of Baden-Württemberg, the nation’s third-largest state in both population and area. It proudly hosts renowned features like the iconic Black Forest, the majestic Rhine, the origin of the Danube, and the tranquil Lake Constance, all amidst verdant farmlands and vineyards. Its urban landscapes are equally impressive, blending contemporary architectural marvels with rich historical heritage.
The new city update provides these cities with high-resolution imagery, improved surface modelling thanks to the use of TIN (triangulated irregular network).
The cities included in this update are:
- Manheim
- Heidelberg
- Karlsruhe
- Stuttgart
- Esslingen
- Kehl and Strasbourg
There is also a brand-new hand-crafted airport included in the update. Friedrichshafen Airport (EDNY) gives you access to the airport which is located near the city of Friedrichshafen. It offers a range of routes including popular domestic routes to Berlin, Munich, Hamburg, and Frankfurt. Internationally, the airport offers connections to cities such as Vienna, Zurich, London, Amsterdam, and Palma de Mallorca.
As mentioned, City Update 6: Southwest Germany is a free update for all users and can be obtained through the in-sim Marketplace.
