SimWorks Studios provided a development update via Facebook detailing their upcoming releases for MSFS including the PC-12/47, an update for their popular Kodiak turboprop, and the RV-10.

PC-12

We learned that the PC-12 would not be ready for release before Christmas 2022 as planned. SimWorks Studios attributed the delay to “key people in the development process [who] had connectivity problems and computer malfunctions, which cost us a month of work.” They also cited the amount of time spent on ensuring the highest quality prior to release as contributing to the delay into Q1 2023.

The news wasn’t all bad, however, as the team shared several new details about the PC-12. Firstly, SimWorks Studios indicated that the exterior and interior 3-D models are undergoing a final review prior to painting. Once finalised, the completed models will be uploaded to Sketchfab where they can be previewed in advance of the release. Also revealed were several new details concerning the PC-12’s avionics. Specifically, the PC-12 will be utilising the same HTML5/JS/CSS framework used by Working Title & Asobo in the G1000 NXi. SimWorks Studios states that this method will ensure minimal impact on frame rates with high-quality vector-based image rendering. The PC-12 Engine Instrumentation System (EIS) is complete and all elements are operational, including warnings and test modes. Development work is now focused on the EADI and EHSI and special attention is being given to the authenticity of the displays including the commissioning of two custom fonts used by the EIS and EFIS.

Kodiak

We also learned that an update for the Kodiak is currently being tested. The update features reworked flap lift and drag values as well as residual ITT tuning based on feedback from real-world Kodiak pilots. Ground handling improvements as well as pitch sensitivity tuning will also be included. SimWorks Studios hopes to release the update in December.

RV-10

Lastly, a brief statement about the RV-10 revealed that the developer is currently processing pilots into the testing team and they “hope to have them test-flying the RV-10 any day now.
