Sierrasim Simulation Releases Harrisburg International Airport for Prepar3D

Sierrasim Simulation, well known in the Prepar3D scenery community for previous releases such as Nassau’s Linden Pindling International Airport (MYNN) and Palmerola International Airport (MHPR), has released its rendition of Pennsylvania’s third busiest airport, Harrisburg International Airport (KMDT) for Prepar3D.

Harrisburg International Airport is a medium-sized airport capable of handling international traffic, and serving the city of Harrisburg and its surrounding area. The airport is currently recognised as the third busiest in Pennsylvania. It serves as primary hub for Wiggins Airways, a freight carrier operating feeder services for it’s larger counterpart, FedEX. The airport originally operated largely in a military capacity until 1968, when commercial airline traffic moved from Capital City Airport to what was then known as Olmstead State Airport. The airport was renamed to Harrisburg International Airport in 1973.

Today, the airport sees many domestic carriers operate to various destinations across the U.S. Among them are carriers such as Allegiant Air with flights to Fort Lauderdale, and Sarasota, American Airlines to Charlotte and United Airlines to Chicago O’Hare. In addition, both FedEx and UPS operate freight services to and from the airport.

On an interesting side note, visual approaches to the airport prove quite restrctive, this being in part due the vicinity of the Three Mile Island nuclear power station located only a couple miles away from the airport’s runway.

Sierrasim Simulation, known for their recreations of U.S. and Central American airports, has released its rendition of this important Pennsylvanian aviation hub for Prepar3D users to discover. The scenery, as is standard by now, comes included with high-quality PBR ground textures, photoreal autogen scenery, animated airport objects, dynamic night lighting and a scenery customisation tool, providing you with the possibility to tweak the scenery’s level of immersion to your liking.

Sierrasim’s rendition of Harrisburg International Airport (KMDT) for Prepar3D is available for purchase from the developers simMarket product page and will set you back $18.51 excl. VAT.
