Inaugurated in October 2021, Palmerola International Airport (MHPR) is Honduras’ newest international airport. Palmerola is located on the Soto Cano Air Base, a new terminal was constructed on the northeast side of the airport for airline operations. The airport serves the town of Comayagua and the residents of Tegucigalpa due to the limitations of growth and safety concerns at Toncontin.
Spirit Airlines flew the first commercial flight into Palmerola on December 11, 2021 from Houston, Texas. On December 15, 2021, all all international carriers operating at Toncontin moved operations to Palmerola. Palmerola has service to the United States and Central America with airlines like American, United, Aeromexico, Copa, and others.

Sierrasim has recreated the airport in great detail with features like photo-realistic PBR textures on all airport buildings and vehicles. Ground textures were created using PBR materials as well, the autogen scenery surrounding the airport match the photoreal ground textures. SODE jetways are included on the terminal ramp and SODE windsocks are also used on the airfield. Dynamic lighting has been added on all ramp areas at night. The use of 3D grass can be seen while taxing around the airport, 3D taxiway edge lights are also included.
A full feature list will be included below for those interested. SierraSim Palmerola International Airport can be purchased from Simmarket for €16.00.
