For years, iBlueYonder has been a solo venture (with support from time to time) by scenery developer Bill Womack. However, after taking on some scenery apprentices over the years, he has expanded his time to include a new developer and their first airport will soon be in our hands.
Ronald Fleurbaaij, based in the Netherlands, has taken on an airport in his home county – Lelystad Airport (EHLE). Ronald is not a stranger to scenery design as he has helped Bill with Dallas Love Field with several buildings and objects focused on the general aviation side of things. However, he wanted to take on his home airport as his first solo project.
The airport is home to FSWeekend, which is held at the beautiful Luchtvaart Museum Aviodrome. This means the airport has a special place in the hearts of many simmers. Whilst it may be primarily a GA airport, it has recently had a runway extension and a new terminal in preparation for commercial traffic. Ronald has already modelled this and is ready for in-sim traffic to populate its stands. Not only is the airport modelled, but the museum has received special attention too, giving you plenty to look for when this does release.
iBlueYonder has said that the airport is on “short final”, meaning it should be available to buy for your simulators very soon. We will of course keep you updated.
