We had previously shared the news that iBlueYonder would be releasing Lelystad Airport under their banner thanks to the work of Ronald Fleurbaaij. Not long after this was announced iBlueYonder issued a statement to say this would no longer be the case and it left the project in limbo. However, Ronald has now formed his own company called PAPA HOTEL – Dutch Scenery Design and will be releasing it under his own banner.
Speaking on his new blog page, Ronald said that working with Bill at iBlueYonder was like a dream come true. As work was coming to a close, Bill decided to “take his company into a different direction”. Despite this, Ronald believed in the quality of the work and set up this new company to release Lelystad Airport (EHLE) for Microsoft Flight Simulator.
The project was largely finished and was originally due to released this week, but instead, Ronald is spending more time on polishing the scenery and getting it ready to be released with a new publisher. Sadly this does mean it will likely not now release until after FSWeekend later this month. It’s a shame, considering the event takes place at the very airport we are discussing. However, quality takes time so will be worth it in the end.
“I’m adamant in offering the community an exceptional representation of an airfield that is very dear to my heart. We’re really close to hitting that lofty mark, but the scenery will only be released after all pre-flight checks have been completed and we are good and ready for take-off,” Ronald said on this blog.
Ronald has set up a new Discord community and will be providing regular updates through that platform in the future.
