With immediate effect, Hype Performance Group is confirming the end of development and support for their 747 SuperTanker product. The news comes a few weeks after sales were originally suspended for the product for unknown reasons. However, that resaon seems clearer than ever now with the most recent statement from the development team.
In the post, the team said that they will be proactively refunding all owners of the SuperTanker, with the aim of completing this by August 1st 2023. Hype Performance Group has also informed customers of the HPG 747 SuperTanker that continuing to use the software is “unauthorized and violates trademark laws.”
In the statement, Hype Performance Group said, “Global Supertanker Aviation is the owner of the SUPERTANKER and GLOBALSUPERTANKER trademarks. The HPG 747 SuperTanker was developed without the knowledge or permission of GSA and the HPG 747 SuperTanker product has no affiliation with GSA.”
They continued by saying that the issue has been resolved “amicably between HPG and GSA,” with both teams open to potentially collaborating on a project in the future with the correct legal and authorized licensing.
The 747 SuperTanker was a unique project from the team, that allowed customers to take control of a 747 Supertanker to help suppress and put out wildfires, as well as provide assistance with other ecological disasters. Sadly now, customers won’t be able to do this any more.
Update: The date has been changed to August 1st, 2023. The original date was a typo on HPG’s part who then corrected their original post and emailed us to update the article.
