When we last heard from FlightFX, they were showing off cockpit previews of the not-yet-officially revealed “Project ApX”. Keen observers guessed from the photos that the developer was working on the Cessna Citation X based on the cockpit previews showing the Honeywell Primus 2000 avionics suite. With the latest batch of exterior previews released on the developer’s Discord server, along with a recent collaboration with YouTuber Airforceproud95, “Project ApX” is no longer a mystery, revealing itself as the Citation X.
The Cessna Citation X, also known as the C750, is an American-built business jet first introduced in 1996. It is perhaps best known for being one of the fastest civilian aircraft in the world, with a maximum cruise speed of Mach 0.92 (around 528 knots or 978 km/h). The Citation X has a seating capacity for 9-12 passengers and a range of up to 3,460 nm (6,408 km).
The in-game, exterior images released by FlightFX show the sweeping lines of the Citation X on the ground and in flight. The model in the previews is equipped with elliptical winglets, though FlightFX’s Marwan Gharib has stated that a non-winglet version will also be available. Elliptical winglets are a $660,935 USD option for the Citation X and offer several advantages including increased range, lower fuel burn, and improved performance.
Footage captured by Airforceproud95 and released on his YouTube channel shows the FlightFX team aboard a Citation X during a cross-country flight from Stockton, CA to Lincoln, NE in December 2023. The almost 20-minute video includes footage of the flight and an interview with the pilots. It also shows the FlightFX team capturing the finer details of the aircraft such as the sounds of the engine startup, flaps, and the hydraulic pump, as well as snapping detailed interior and exterior photos.
As always, FSElite will keep you updated as more details, including release date and pricing, are revealed.
