Flight Replicas has announced on their Facebook page that the Spitfire Mk.V is now available for purchase on the Microsoft Flight Simulator Marketplace. The two packages offered are the Standard Mk.V and the Tropical Mk.V.
Very few of you are unaware of the Spitfire and its legacy as one of the dominant fighters of World War II. Several variants were produced as the war progressed and technology improved. The Mk.V variant has a liquid-cooled supercharged Rolls-Royce Merlin 45 engine generating a whopping 1,470 horsepower. Flight Replicas provides two packages; a Standard and a Tropical package, each available as separate purchases.
The Standard variant is the Spitfire as most of us know. However, the Tropical version was outfitted with a special air filter under the nose to prevent dust from entering the engine aspiration system. This was particularly problematic during operations in North Africa, making it an awesome choice for those interested in recreating flights in the North Africa campaign. If the Tropical version of the Spitfire interests you, you can pick it up for $8.49 USD on the MSFS marketplace. If flying around Europe is more your jam, the Standard Spitfire is available for $12.49 USD.
