Earlier this week Fenix Simulations announced that the long awaited V2 update process was finally going to start, with the first of a two part update rolling out to customers as soon as next week. Additionally, the team also announced the development of an Airbus A321 and Airbus A319.
As promised in that announcement the team has now shared some of the expected performance improvements that will be included in the first part of the V2 update, named V2 Block 1. The team has heard the feedback over the last few months about the performance, and it has been a large focus point in V2, with over a thousand hours dedicated to improving this. In order to do so, the team identified several things that had to be fixed, such as a rewrite of the display render technology, as well as model and systems code changes. The results of the tests, which can be found in the graphs below, have been made at various third party payware airports while performing a take-off roll. The graphs show a clear improvement from the current version of Fenix’s A320, bringing it up to par or making it even better than some other third-party aircraft, such as PMDG’s 737, FlyByWire’s A32N or iniBuilds’ A310.
EFB Update
The V2 update will also see a new version of Fenix’ EFB, EFBv2. Unfortunately this update is reserved for Block 2 of the update, which, according to this week’s earlier announcement, should be out sometime next month. Despite this, the team has still included some improvements in their EFBv1. These updates include Navigraph’s mapping tiles, allowing you to see a moving map with your position on it if you want this. Another change included in the EFBv1 is one to the aircraft cabin layout. It will now feature a more densely packed 180 seat layout. In the future the EFBv2 will allow you to switch between a 162 and 180 seat version.
