In a yearly video and subsequent newsletter, Eagle Dynamics announced the continued development and release of several projects.
The exciting “2024 and Beyond” video is a must-watch if only for the thrill of seeing the vast array of DCS modules in action. However, stick to the end of the video which includes a “coming to DCS in 2024” section where both Iraq and a full-fidelity Fulcrum-A are announced.
Alongside the YouTube video, ED released a newsletter including more information. For starters, it confirms the announcement of the MiG-29A Fulcrum and Iraq map including the continued development of an Afghanistan map. Additionally, they are continuing to work on the CH-47F, Hellcat/USS Enterprise, and the Marianas WWII map.
ED shared some more specific details on the progress of their projects as well. For example, the CH-47F is in a state where they are finalizing the flight dynamics and flight control system. The Hellcat includes enhanced internal structural modeling which will result in realistic damage. Included with this development is a series of opponent aircraft specific to the Pacific Theater. Finally, the MiG-29A Fulcrum module has been described as ED’s first full-fidelity 4th-generation Russian fighter.
In terms of maps, of course there’s the confirmed development of an Afghanistan map. However, the additional announcement of an Iraq map is surely exciting. The map will initially be released around Baghdad with an expansion south to provide more scenarios for Operations Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom. Finally, the Marianas will be based on numerous photographs, accounts, and documents detailing the war during the summer of 1944. This map will be free and will act as an adaptation of their current Marianas which is available in DCS. This upcoming year is slated to be a busy one for Eagle Dynamics. Stay tuned to FSElite for more news regarding new developments in the world of DCS.
