A significant update for Orbx’s Volanta app has been released. Version 1.6 of Volanta comes with a number of new features and a bunch of fixes that should improve the experience of the flight tracking tool.
The first major new feature that comes with the new version is the ability to playback flights that you have completed in Volanta. You can watch back any of your old flights at various speeds and also see certain key events such as landings. Another new cool feature is product recommendations for the user’s active flight origin and destination. If you know what route you want to fly, but need help knowing what product to add, this will certainly be helpful. The map will also highlight products that are nearby during a flight. There’s also new local time and local currency (?) information added to airports, along with the current open/closed status of an airport.
Other new features include a new map settings panel design, the ability to select between staple and experimental plugin release channels and new aircraft icons.
Further to new features, a range of fixes are also part of the new release. Tooltips have been improved across the board, screenshots can now be seen on the map and certain visual issues are now resolved. There are a number of key fixes in the changelog below.
Volanta is a free flight-tracking tool that can be used with any primary desktop simulator. It enables you to see other virtual pilots, online ATC and save your flights to the cloud. A Premium version of Volanta also exists that gives you more features such as high-resolution screenshot saving, schedules, and more. You can subscribe to Volanta Premium for AU$6.35 (excluding tax).
New Volanta Features
- Added playback controls for past flights! Flights can now be “replayed” in Volanta at various speeds with an intuitive timeline-like navigation experience that marks key events such as landings.
- Added the ability to filter the flights shown on the map

- An airline can now be eliminated from an aircraft
- The flickering radius circles for approach controllers when hovering over them have been fixed
- Tooltips no longer scroll with the app
- Screenshots can now be seen on the map
- Volanta Premium Subscribers can sync with Orbxdirect
- Users can select area controllers even when the labels are displayed in the same place as an approach controller radius ring
- Controller tooltips are no longer shown when the controller layer is not visible
- Fixed an issue causing enroute controllers to no longer appear in the list of VATSIM controllers on the airport card
