For a long time now, we have not heard from Majestic Software regarding their products coming to Microsoft Flight Simulator. The team is known for their high-fidelity Dash 8 Q400 on FSX/P3D and many have clamoured to have it come to the modern flight simulator. A new statement has finally appeared on their site where they give some insight into progress.
During this lengthy silence, Majestic has been working on many technological advanacements that will enable them to push the envelope even further than before. They said that system complexity “continuously raises the bar” and the engine allows them to enter a new “realm of visual capabilities.” Whilst systems have progressed nicely, 3D modelling came to a bit of a halt as the 3D designer was no longer able to continue working with them. A new team is being planned to ensure that work can be finalised.
In a first, the team confirmed that the Dash 8 Q400, Q300 and “very likely” the Q200 to Microsoft Flight Simulator.
Initially, the team thought they would be able to “port” the plane over from older platforms to MSFS, but soon realised that the best logical step was to create the vast majority of things from scratch. This includes vector graphics, the visual model, and flight dynamics. Majestic has stated that they have re-worked all of the EFIS screens, and introduced a new EFB (with Navigraph Charts integration).
In terms of timeframes, Majestic are trying to set expectations for the community that we shouldn’t expect anything until at least 2025. That is, of course, if “everything goes to plan”. There won’t be regular updates, but Majestic will share things as progress is made.
Finally, Majestic thanks the community for their patience and support as they look ahead to bringing the planes to Microsoft Flight Simulator [2020]/2024.
