Robert from PMDG gave a new update on the PMDG forums indicating to the community that the 737 for MSFS has been updated, focusing mostly on improving the Universal Flight Tablet.
The changelog for the new update is down below. As you will see, it’s mostly focused on bringing fixes and functions to the Universal Flight Tablet. The update can be obtained through the PMDG Ops centre or by downloading a fresh build via the PMDG store. Robert did also mention that another update is planned next week which will clean up some items found in the most recent beta testing round.
Marketplace Users
Those who have downloaded PMDG’s 737 via the in-sim Marketplace will be pleased to know that the PC version of the 737 for MSFS will be updated on Thursday 30th Nov 2023. The new update on PC will include the anticipated Universal Flight Tablet. The in-take process for the marketplace saw a slight slowdown with Thanksgiving, but the team is confident that updates will be pushed more promptly from now.
Sadly, those with the 737 for MSFS on Xbox will need to wait a bit longer as an issue cropped up during the testing process. Robert simply said that the tablet just doesn’t work on Xbox at the moment. That said, PMDG believes they know why the tablet isn’t working and are in touch with the platform developer for help and guidance. As the Xbox and PC versions of the sim share the same SDK, but as the Xbox is a more protected environment, some issues do crop up. PMDG however do seem confident in bringing the tablet to Xbox users as soon as possible.
SimBrief Users
A note from PMDG for those that use SimBrief to generate flight plans for their 737.
“If you generate a flight plan for the 737 using SimBrief, please be sure to select an airline and a flight number for your flight plan. We found a problem in which failure to have a flight number populate with the flight data can cause the airplane to fail unceremoniously upon flight plan loading. The trick to avoid it is simply to have a flight number.”
