Over the weekend, Robert shared a new post on the PMDG forums giving a small development update on the 737 for MSFS.
To cut to the chase, there is still no release date as of yet, but Robert did say that we will not see the plane just ‘drop’ and that we will know the release ahead of time. He even added that we may get a release time, but again, until we get information from Robert, there is nothing confirmed.
In addition to the above, two new previews of the plane were shown off.
In a second post dated 18th April 2022, Robert also shared a couple of cockpit previews taken from different angles at different times of the day.
However, the most exciting part of the post is the fact that the first official video content in a new series has started to appear on the PMDG YouTube channel.
Video Content
Now, before we turn our attention to the videos delivered by PMDG, it’s important to set some expectations. The four videos released (so far), focus mostly on installation, adding liveries and other housekeeping elements. These videos, in turn, will become small tutorial-like content to help newcomers and experienced simmers get to grips with the 737 from PMDG. One example Robert gave was tips on how to use the HUD.
These won’t be fully-fledged video tutorials like we saw with the DC-6, but instead will focus on sections of the plane that may need more detail or give a more general insight into flying the aircraft. Robert said the reason for this is two-fold; first, he is much more involved in the development side of the process with the 737 compared to the DC-6. Secondly, he said with so many content creators out there, some of which are type-rated, he wanted to ensure there wasn’t overlap and wanted to see them have success with their quality video content.
With all that said, there are currently four new videos over on the PMDG channel that start to showcase the 737 for MSFS. The videos so far are:
- Video Series Introduction
- Installation and Important First Run Notes
- Operations Center and Liveries
- Towing Out & Post Release Update

Release Date?
There is still no release date has been confirmed by PMDG at this stage.
However, if you are unaware, we do know the release order for each of the body types coming from PMDG. The 737-700 will be first, followed by the 737-600, then the 737-800, and finally the 737-900. At some point in the future, the MAX variations will also be brought over to Microsoft Flight Simulator.

NDA Lifting Today
In a second post on the PMDG forums, it has been confirmed that the NDA will be lifted today (Monday 18th April) at 15:00z. This means an array of images and videos should start dropping on the internet.
We’ll be bringing you the latest from those testers when they’re shared later today.
In Robert’s recent posts, we found out that PMDG will be developing the MAX series of aircraft in the future, along with dropping regular updates for the 737 for MSFS which will improve the aircraft over time.
