Octavi & Aerosoft Open Pre-Orders for the IFR-1 Flight Sim Controller

The Octavi IFR-1 is a compact all-in-one device that lets users control all major instruments in a flight simulator through a single controller. Initially brought to market through a successful Kickstarter campaign, the company reports that in the first half of 2023, they delivered almost 500 units to their Kickstarter backers. Based on the success of this campaign, Octavi has decided to offer the broader flight sim community the chance to purchase the IFR-1 through a partnership with Aerosoft.

The Octavi IFR-1 presents itself as “the world’s smallest cockpit”, and the device offers a substantial amount of functionality for its compact design, at a fraction of the cost of traditional home-cockpit devices. Each Octavi unit features a dual-concentric encoder knob that works in conjunction with a set of mode context buttons. This allows users to select the instrument they wish to manipulate, and then use the encoder knob to set comm and nav frequencies, change transponder codes, adjust autopilot variables, and more. Shift functions are also available for many modes that allow users to interact with in-game GPS and FMS units.

Flying is a multi-tasking challenge. Only through practice can a pilot master the individual tasks of aviating, navigating and communicating. When using a PC-based flight simulator, a completely unnatural task interferes with your flying: having to operate avionics with your mouse! This is where Octavi comes in.

-Octavi product description

Octavi states that the IFR-1 is compatible with a variety of flight simulators including Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, X-Plane, and Prepar3D on both Windows and macOS operating systems. Installation is plug-and-play via USB and requires no driver installation or other, third-party software to operate, though many users have stated functionality can be expanded through custom LUA scripts.

According to the Aerosoft website, pre-orders are expected to begin shipping to customers in November 2023. Pricing is set at €151,25 (excluding taxes and shipping). For more information or to pre-order your Octavi IFR-1, visit Aerosoft.com
