At this year’s FlightSimExpo, Lockheed Martin has formally announced that Prepar3D v6 is in development. It will launch with an all-new atmospheric model, an improved lighting system, multiplayer functionality, and much more.
Prepar3D is Lockheed Martin’s flagship simulation and training platform. Version 6 of the beloved simulator expands on previous versions before it by adding an impressive list of new features.
Lighting has seen an overhaul with the new version, making environments come across more realistic than ever before. In addition to the lighting, the atmospheric effects have been vastly improved, along with adding all-new reactive environments, too. Airports have also seen a renewed focus from the development team, with higher detail models, surfaces and objects – all in response to feedback. Cities and other landscapes have also been improved over past versions.
Prepar3D V6 also comes with a new mission builder, multiplayer components, realistic weapon systems, and multi-domain training. You can watch the latest trailer for Prepar3D v6 below.
Prepar3D is a visual simulation platform that allows users to create training scenarios across aviation, maritime and ground domains. It has been used for a wide range of learning scenarios including vehicle procedures training, cockpit familiarization, flight planning, air traffic controller training and emergency response preparation in the commercial, academic, professional and military instruction environments. Prepar3D supports everything from visualizing missile trajectories to simulating wildfire response efforts.
