Scenery developer Boundless has shared what its future looks like, with their first roadmap post of 2024. The X-Plane focused scenery developers had 35 locations available to buy by the end of 2023 and they plan on adding to that significant list throughout this year.
Before announcing their product plans for the year, Boundless took a moment to celebrate some of its successes over the past year. They continued to build popular UK destinations for the simulator, but also expanded on their location list with the likes of Faro, San Sebastian and Paris Vatry all being made available for the platform. They also improved their customer support system, as well as improving their product pages to give more visibility on what you’re about to purchase.
2024 Plans
Looking forward to 2024, the team wanted to shed light on what is coming very soon for the X-Plane platform. In the near-term, expect releases for Prestwick Airport, a new UK Helipads pack, Wick Airport, and finally North Weald Airport. These are due for release first, before more projects are announced.
Boundless did however confirm that there are 3 other “major products” in development at this time, with an announcement expected in February. This will “continue [the] trend of developing European airports.”
X-Plane 11 and X-Plane 12 Compatibility
One thing Boundless was very keen to confirm was the fact that they will continue to support X-Plane 11, despite the new version of the simulator leading the way in terms of sales. All new releases as of January 2023 have been dual-compatible and the team look to continue that trend moving forward.
There are plans for more products to be upgraded to X-Plane 12. They said that Birmingham and Shannon are quite high on the list. Whilst they hope that these upgrades will be free, they did make the concession that Birmingham will be built from the ground-up like a new airport, so a small fee “may be needed”. Boundless promises to keep the community informed.
Overall, it appears Boundless has a lot of work ahead in the year, but as usual, we’ll be sure to keep you updated with the latest.
