Highly regarded MSFS scenery developer, XWind Studios, known for previous projects such as Dunedin Airport (NZDN), has released its rendition of Palmerston North Airport (NZPM) for MSFS.
Nestled in the heart of the Manawatū region on New Zealand’s North Island, Palmerston North Airport (NZPM) stands as a testament to the evolution of aviation and its pivotal role in connecting communities in the country. Established in 1931 by the Milson Aerodrome Society, Palmerston North Airport (NZPM) initially served as a grass airstrip for small private aircraft. It was not until 1936 that the first commercial flight, operated by Union Airways, touched down on the airport’s grounds. Over the decades, it underwent significant expansions and developments, adapting to the changing needs of aviation. The airport played a crucial role during World War II, serving as a base for military operations.
Today, Palmerston North Airport (NZPM) features modern facilities and amenities. The airport terminal offers a range of services, including cafes, shops, car rental facilities, and multiple airlines operate domestic routes providing connectivity for passengers and freight alike to destinations across New Zealand. Examples include Air New Zealand, which operates flights to both Auckland and Christchurch, as well as Originair, which operates flights to Hamilton, Nelson, and Wellington.
Highly regarded MSFS scenery developer XWind Studios has released their rendition of this important and historically rich airfield for MSFS users to discover. The scenery, by the looks of it, lives up to XWIND Studios’ high-quality standards and, according to the developer, features highly detailed imagery, custom ground polygons, custom PBR models featuring 4K textures, and an airport layout in line with the completion of current airport works, to name a few.
If you feel like discovering the Manawatū region yourself, feel free to head over to the developer’s iniBuilds store page where you can purchase XWind Studio’s Palmerston North Airport (NZPM) for MSFS. The purchase will cost you $12.40 Excl. VAT.
Prospective users should be aware that World Update #12, which covers New Zealand, must be installed for the scenery to work.
