A member of the NZA Simulations testing team, username zkdos, posted preview images on the Microsoft Flight Simulator community forum of the up-and-coming Christchurch International airport addon.
Little was mentioned regarding what features the airport addon will include except for custom static models but zkdos notably claims that this will be “by far the most extensively detailed and accurately rendered package that [he knows] of.”
Christchurch Airport is the main airport serving Christchurch, New Zealand and the third busiest airport in the country. Interestingly enough, the airport has two perpendicular runways oriented towards the north-east and south-westerly winds that prevail due to Canterbury’s foehn winds – which is a type of dry, warm, downsloping wind that occurs over the downwind side of a mountain range. While it serves a large fleet of international, cargo, and domestic flights, it also includes a grass runway to accommodate general aviation aircraft. As a result, this airport truly stands out from many other international airports.
As always, tune in to FSElite for any updates regarding the release of this airport. Until then, enjoy some screenshots included below (for more screenshots, take a look at the original forum post).
