Horizon Simulations’ freeware Boeing 787-9 for Microsoft Flight Simulator just got an upgrade.
Horizon Simulations’ developer davidn123 took to the company’s Discord server to announce that v1.1 of the company’s flagship airliner product is now available through the Headwind installer. This latest edition of the Dreamliner includes CPDLC/Hoppie integration, an EFB Data Load page (although this is non-functional), Forked SAI and COMM Instruments, as well as a small system refactor.
The addition of CPDLC is particularly pertinent with VATSIM’s biannual Cross the Pond coming up this weekend. Pilots planning on making the transatlantic crossing will be able to take advantage of the new feature to request and manage their trip through Shanwick and Gander’s Oceanic airspace with minimal radio chatter required.
Datalink clearances can also replace the need for calling a delivery controller for a pre-departure clearance where the online controller supports this feature.
The latest version of the 787-9 can be downloaded now through the Headwind Installer. N.B. Users are reminded that a copy of Microsoft Flight Simulator: Premium Deluxe Edition is required in order for the 787-9 to function properly inside the simulator.
