Following on their Short Stirling and A-4E Skyhawk, Virtavia appears to be steadily bringing their catalog to MSFS. This time with the release of their F7F-3 Tigercat, a twin-engine heavy fighter that was introduced late in World War II.
The F7F-3 was the most produced variant of the Tigercat, with a total number of 249 built among several different sub-variants. The F7F Tigercat was one of the fastest aircraft fighter aircraft at its time of introduction and featured heavy armament. The aircraft was intended for carrier operations, but failed to qualify for this due to poor directional stability if the aircraft only had one operational engine. It was not until the F7F-4N version that it gained carrier qualifications, but of this variant only 12 were built.
Virtavia’s F7F-3 Tigercat comes in three different variants: a clean variant, featuring no guns or cannons, a fighter variant, featuring a belly drop tank and guns in a day fighter loadout and a rockets variant, featuring two underwing drop tanks and unguided rockets.
The aircraft features a detailed cockpit with several animations and working controls. The aircraft also contains a large list of animations, including but not limited to a folding wings, retractable crew steps, cowl flaps and oil cooler exits. The plane features an authentic flight model, although the product page does not provide any more specifications on the flight model specifics.
Virtavia’s F7F-3 Tigercat can be picked up for €18 from SimMarket.
