TDS Sim has announced the GTNXi Pro version of its popular GTN Xi-series GPS navigators for Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS). The GTNXi Pro offers a fully updateable navigation database and current charts by Navigraph and provides up-to-date SIDs, STARs, approaches, waypoints, VORs, NDBs, VRPs, airways, airports, runways, frequencies, and other technical data fields. The GTN’s interface remains based on the real-world Garmin PC Trainer for a near 1:1 replication of the experience of using the real-world Garmin GTN 750 Xi and GTN 650 Xi units.
Since its introduction in 2021, TDS Sim’s GTNXi-series for MSFS has become one of the GPS navigators of choice for aircraft developers. Offering cockpit integration for dozens of add-on aircraft as well as stand-alone gauge compatibility, TDS claims that the GTNXi “is the natural evolution to the old GTN Series GPS Navigators“. However, previously, the add-on relied on either the MSFS default navigation data (navdata) or the Garmin PC Trainer database, both of which were often many months, if not years, out of date. This posed a problem for flight sim pilots wishing to use real-world ATC routings and procedures as navigational waypoints and procedures are constantly updated.
The newly introduced GTNXi Pro integrates with Navigraph’s subscription-based data, enabling the unit to operate using up-to-date procedures, waypoints, airports, frequencies, and more. This allows for accurate correlation of flight plans from other software (SimBrief, LittleNavMap, etc.) as well as for online flying without experiencing database discrepancies, such as missing waypoints or procedures. A separate, Navigraph Basic subscription is required to install up-to-date navdata and users can find the TDS Sim Software GTNXi-series option available via the Navigraph Hub.
Navigraph Unlimited users will find additional benefits with the inclusion of Navigraph Charts in the TDS Sim GTNXi, providing always up-to-date, worldwide charts that can be displayed in-game via the GTN’s screen.
Existing GTNXi-series customers can purchase the Pro Upgrade via the TDS website for €24.95. New customers can purchase the GTNXi Pro directly from TDS Sim for €64.95. In a showing of goodwill, TDS announced that customers who purchased the GTNXi from 01 February 2024 to 29 February 2024 will receive the Pro Upgrade for free and can locate it in the “My Account” section of the website.
Lastly, it’s worth noting that the non-Pro version of the TDS Sim GTN Xi will continue to function without Navigraph data as before, though customers should use the TDS GPS Manager to update to the latest version of the product at their convenience.
