Orbx has taken to their forums to announce Rockhampton Airport (YBRK) for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Developed by indie developer Rob Byrne, the airport product will come packed with features that will bring the Australian airport to life.
Rockhampton Airport is a regional airport located in the city of Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia. The airport serves the city and surrounding areas, including the Capricorn Coast and Central Queensland. Rockhampton Airport is serviced by a number of airlines, including Qantas, Virgin Australia, and Alliance Airlines. The airport offers both domestic and international flights, with destinations including Brisbane, Townsville, Cairns, and Denpasar. In addition to scheduled services, the Royal Flying Doctors and Helicopter Rescue Services are based at the airport, and during military exercises in the area, various types of military aircraft are a common sight at Rockhampton.
According to the forum post, Rob has reproduced Rockhampton Airport down to the last detail. Rob visited the airport on a number of occasions to get photographs of the buildings, layouts, and more in order to bring an authentic version to the simulator. This includes custom groundpoly, lighting and more.
