Orbx has announced that they will very soon be releasing Boise Airport (KBOI) for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Boise Air Terminal also goes by the name of Gowen Field and is used for both civil and military purposes.
The ATC tower at the airport is a standout thanks to its towering height of 295 feet. It is actually one of the tallest buildings in Idaho, providing great views across the whole airport. The current passenger terminal opened in 2003 and sees eight airlines provide 26 destinations across the US. As mentioned before, the airport serves the 124th Fighter Wing of Idaho National Air Guard operating A-10 Thunderbolt II out of the airport.
There isn’t much in the way of detail about what to expect from the airport itself, other than it will come with custom buildings, groundpoly and 60cm ortho imagery in the area. Furthermore, there is PBR texturing across the product, along with custom military models that are static in several points around Boise Airport.
Orbx’s product page is currently live, but you cannot purchase the airport just yet. Expect it very soon and when it does release, we’ll let you know.
