Sim Update 15 (v1.37.18.0) for Microsoft Flight Simulator is now available for the general public to download. Following a long public beta process, and a few delays, the long-awaited update is here.
The new update brings with it improvements to performance (FPS and memory usage), a large number of improvements to included aircraft, and also the release of the Airbus A320NEO v2 developed by iniBuilds.
The new Airbus aircraft does not replace the original but adds a whole new free aircraft for those looking to expand their knowledge of the aircraft type. It’s a much more feature-rich plane, with more advanced systems, improved realism, the edition of an onboard EFB and much more. The original Asobo one is a great entry-level plane, whilst this one adds an extra dimension for those wanting to go one-step further.
The changelog for Sim Update 15 is fairly extensive, with a wide-range of changes across the board. Some notable ones include fixes to a number of the launch airports in all editions of the simulator, support for twin-engine helicopters, improved usage of available FlightAware data, and also allowing users on Xbox Cloud Gaming to use touch/gyro controls.
As always, you should change your community folder name or move everything out of it prior to updating to ensure that you don’t cause any stability issues or long loading times. Once you have updated, you can move everything back.
Sim Update 15 will be the last major update for Microsoft Flight Simulator this year as the focus is now squarely on Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. However, expect Sim Update 16 to come out in early 2025 and still plenty of World Updates for the current sim in the meantime.
