Renowned military aircraft developer IRIS Simulations, known for previous releases covering aircraft such as the Pilatus PC-21, has released its rendition of the battle-tested Beechcraft T-6 Texan II for MSFS users to take for a spin.
The Texan II, also more formally known as the Beechcraft/Raytheon T-6 Texan II, is a single-engine turboprop aircraft built by Textron Aviation that primarily serves as a fighter pilot and combat officer training aircraft. The aircraft is a further development of the Pilatus PC-9, modified by Beechcraft to enter the Joint Primary Aircraft Training System competition in the 1990s when both the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Navy were seeking replacements for their ailing Cessna T-37B “Tweet” and the T-34C “Turbo Mentor” trainer aircraft.
The aircraft is powered by a single Pratt & Whitney Canada PT-6A-68 turboprop engine featuring a 4-blade, constant-speed, variable-pitch propeller, delivering 1,100 shaft horsepower and allowing the plane to achieve a cruise speed of 320 mph at a cruise altitude of up to 31,000 ft. The Texan II is currently in use by many air forces around the world, including the Canadian Air Force, the Argentinian Air Force, and the Israeli Air Force, to name just a few. To this date, more than 850 examples of the plane have been manufactured, carrying various types of operator-specific modifications.
Renowned military aircraft developer IRIS Simulations has released its recreation of this staple of military aviation training for MSFS. The aircraft, in addition to featuring a highly detailed and accurate exterior, also boasts a meticulously crafted flight model that simulates actual real-world aircraft behavior to a tee. Moreover, the developer has ensured the inclusion of a variety of liveries and customization options, allowing users to tailor every flight to their needs. Using the integrated, easy-to-use interface will even allow newcomers to military aviation to get started quickly and enjoy the aircraft in no time.
If you’re looking to switch things up from everyday A-to-B passenger hauling or seeking something a little faster-paced than your usual $100 burger weekend outing, consider picking up IRIS Simulations’ T-6 Texan II from the IRIS Simulations online store.
