Digital Flight Dynamics’ latest episode on the progress of the A350X shows off the development of the internal modelling of the cockpit, cabin, and exterior as well as some of the progress made on the avionics side.
The cockpit is still very much a work-in-progress with sections, textures, and details still under development. However, the cabin modelling appears to be further along with incredible detail for the various class options that will be available. The exterior of the airplane is coming along nicely, with a high level of detail on the landing gear, wonderful nose shape of the A350, tail section of the aircraft, and of course the engines.
Progress is also being made on the avionics. The team presented the ECAM which displays critical information on the engines, APU, oxygen, hydraulics, etc. The MFD was also shown, with the FMS functionality demonstrated. They noted that actual flight plans can’t yet be created as they are waiting on FMS V2 from FlyByWire first. Finally, they presented the Onboard Information System (OIS) which will allow users to view charts, calculate takeoff performance data, and more.
