Scenery developer Boundless continues to bring quality-looking scenery products to UK airports. Whilst there was a focus on smaller airports as of late, the team are now taking on a slightly bigger project for X-Plane. Using their expertise, the team is bringing London Southend (EGMC) to the simulator.
According to the developer, the scenery product will have some “really exciting features” that will be pushing the limits of the simulator as far as they can. From what we can see, there certainly appears to be a lot of detail that goes beyond anything the team has yet produced. From the detailed looking air traffic control tower and the fully modelled train station, there appears to be plenty to see in the X-Plane product.
London Southend is a pretty fascinating airport. Located in Essex, Southend-on-sea became quite a popular hub airport in 2012 when easyJet opened its base there in time for the London Olympics. Since then, other carriers like Ryanair operate regularly to destinations across Europe. However, the short runway (6089ft) means that quite often airlines will have to operate within strict weight limits.
A release has not been specified but the team said that there will be “plenty” more previews in the coming weeks, indicating it will be at least that long until we see the product gets released.
Boundless are no stranger to London airports as they did a great job on their Stansted Airport scenery for the platform. If you’re a Microsoft Flight Simulator user, why not check out their Alderney Island product.
We’ll be keeping a close eye on this and be sure to inform you of any further development news.
