NetDesign is a relative newcomer in the Microsoft Flight Simulator scenery development world that has so far focused on creating high-quality sceneries for the Country of Algeria. Their latest release takes flight simmers to Houari Boumédiène International Airport (DAAG), the main airport serving Algeria’s capital city of Algiers.
Located on the Mediterranean coast, Algiers has a population of over 2.9 million residents. Houari Boumédiène International Airport (DAAG) is located 16.9 km (10.5 mi) east-southeast of the city centre and is projected to serve over 8.3 million passengers in 2024. The airport is a hub for Algerian-based airlines Air Algérie and Tassili Airlines. DAAG is also served by several international airlines offering passenger and cargo service across Africa, the Middle East, Europe, UK, and seasonal service to North America. The airport is named after Houari Boumédiène, a former president of Algeria.
NetDesign’s DAAG features a highly-detailed rendition of the airport including upwards of 40 custom models including the four terminals, various buildings, vehicles, aircraft, and objects. The detail extends beyond the airport property and includes surrounding landmarks such as the Maqam Echahid (Martyrs’ Memorial), Nelson Mandela Stadium, and Djamaa el Djazaïr (the Great Mosque of Algiers), which features functional helicopter pads.
