X-Codr Announces West Yellowstone Airport for XPL

Renowned X-plane scenery developer X-Codr, known within the community for its rendition of Denver International KDEN and Telluride Airport KTEX, has recently taken to their Xplane forum page, indicating to fellow readers that West Yellowstone Airport KWYS will be their next scenery project.

West Yellowstone Airport KWYS is a state-owned airport facility located at the west entrance to the famous Yellowstone National Park and serves the town of West Yellowstone, Montana. The Airport is situated at an elevation of 6’649ft AMSL and only possesses a single paved runway 01/19. On an interesting side note, although only serving a single scheduled destination, being that of Salt Lake City, Utah, the Airport is, during the summer months, home to 21 smokejumpers, a particular regiment of wildland firefighters inserted at the site of remote bushfires via parachute. Additionally, the Airport also sees regular visits by MD-87 and BAe-146 firefighting aircraft, called in to support the stationed smokejumpers’ efforts.

X-Codr has taken to the X-plane Forums to provide interested simmers with first previews of its rendition of this airfield, developed for X-plane 11. The developer indicates that the Airport will come with all the usual bells and whistles, including custom modeled buildings making use of ultra high-resolution PBR textures, custom 3D vegetation, 10m mesh, and high-resolution orthoimagery for the entire Yellowstone National Park area, as well as accurately erupting geysers placed at precise locations within the park.

The developer has, as of yet, not provided any indication regarding price and release date. As always, we will keep you updated on any potential future updates regarding X-Codr’s current project.
