Taking to their webpage, HST Simulations, known within the X-Plane community for their Ultimate Water Enhancement and Real View add ons, has provided interested followers with a development update regarding their anticipated xAmbience Pro product.
The team begins by indicating that the product has finally entered Beta testing. Although bugs are continuously found and fixed, the group expects the product to, most likely, be released to the broad public during the first quarter of the new year. Being asked why the product was not released as initially planned in September, the team indicates that significant cloud rendering issues hampered development and resulted in them having to rewrite about 50’000 lines of code, causing substantial delays.
Although the rewrite proved unanticipated, it provided the team with the possibility of introducing additional new features to the product. These added features include the possibility of rendering complex cloud structures such as Thunderstorms and Cumulus Nimbus that are not native to the X-Plane platform, a new cloud rendering model, new cloud passing effects, as well as an improved user interface for softer interactions.
Additionally, the team also indicates that a Showcase Video Series, set to provide in-game footage of the product at work, will release on a 3-5 day basis on the teams’ YouTube channel. Some of the videos showcasing the product in action are also featured in the here mentioned development update.
Finally, the team also indicates that they have initiated a new project set to take the developer in a previously untouched direction. What the new project is or when it is expected to become available was not revealed. However, if you feel lucky, you might want to send in your guess by filling out the following query. Lucky guessers will be rewarded with a free copy of the new product once released.
