Those of you looking to experience the role of a ground handler at a busy international airport will be able to so on October 19th 2023 when AirportSim releases for PC.

Announced earlier today during WASD x IGN’s Live event in London, the team announced that the ground handling airport simulator, AirportSim, will be available in just over a month. A demo is currently available on Steam and gives you a great opportunity to try out the game ahead of its release.

In your new role, you will work at a number of different airports taking on the challenges of a ground crew member. Welcoming passengers, offloading baggage and pushing the plane with the tug form just a handful of the duties you will need to complete to keep your passengers, flight crew and airline happy.

You will simulate this experience from a first-person perspective and the world around you is highly simulated. The custom physics and graphics engine means you will be taking on these challenges in realistic environments. Cars, baggage and other equipment have unique handling properties, meaning you will need to take care when manoeuvring around the 737s or A320s that are in the simulator.

With various game modes to choose from, there will be plenty to do. Campaign mode will give you a realistic flight schedule that you will need to follow and complete on time in order to ensure flights leave as scheduled. Free Play grants you the freedom to complete random tasks whilst you handle the weather. Finally, Visitor Mode gives you the chance to look around the included airports (Vágar, Keflavik, and Frankfurt) at your own pace without any pressure or obligations.

For those wanting to get creative with their simulator, you can customise flight schedules, paint skins and more. All of these creations can be shared via the Steam Workshop and the included tools will allow you to really get your imagination running wild.

AirportSim has been developed by MS Games, but has been massively supported by MK-Studios. MK-Studios, if you don’t know, brought us airports like Rome, Lisbon, Keflavik and more to Microsoft Flight Simulator. So if you liked the detail in those airports, there’s a good chance you will like what they’ve done with AirportSim.

AirportSim is due to release on October 19th on PC and will then be released on Xbox consoles.

Be sure to stay tuned to FSElite where we’ll be providing coverage for this brand-new simulator. As you wait, check out our interview with the developers behind the new simulator. You can learn more about AirportSim in our original announcement post.
