Orbx Shares 2021 Roadmap: Landmarks, Airports and Aircraft Coming

After not sharing a roadmap at the end of 2020 for the following year, Orbx has today shared a lengthy post detailing what the next few months will look like. Whilst there is the usual caveat that things may change, the team wanted to share what the global team is currently working on for Microsoft Flight Simulator, Prepar3D and X-Plane 11.

Landmark City Packs and Regions

First of all, it was confirmed there currently 12 new Landmarks City Packs in development for Microsoft Flight Simulator. In that list are locations throughout the world including New Zealand, South Africa, Ireland, Germany and India. These Landmarks packs will continue to add detailed buildings and points of interest to a range of key cities in the world enhancing the flying experience. The full list of packs in development is as follows:

  • Auckland, New Zealand
  • Cape Town, South Africa
  • Cairo, Egypt

Further to the Landmarks projects, a range of regional packs are also in development for Microsoft Flight Simulator, also. These include the Canary Islands, Northern England and also Scotland. For those using Prepar3D and X-Plane 11, the team are also working on TrueEarth Eastern Alps (for P3D),  TrueEarth Southern Spain (XPL) and work continues with openLC Asia on P3D.

Airports

Not forgetting about airports for all the simulators, the team are working on a range of new airports and also refreshments for some of their current catalogue for different platforms. For Prepar3D, simmers can expect Boise International (KBOI), Palm Beach (KPBI), Split Airport (LDSP) and Van Nuys Airpot (KVNY). X-Plane 11 users will see Hollywood Burbank and Olbia be brought to the platform. However, the bulk of airports so far announced is for Microsoft Flight Simulator with the likes of Catalina (KAVX), Sao Paulo (SBSP) and Prague (LKPR) coming soon to the sim. The full list is as follows:

Aircraft

In a bit of a surprise announcement, Orbx has confirmed they are releasing their first aircraft for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The Edgley Optica is a low-speed observational aircraft that was developed to provide pilots with a panoramic vision from the cockpit. Orbx says this is the “perfect aircraft” for exploring their scenery products and has been crafted with a “high attention to detail.”
