DC Designs Previews F-14A Tomcat for MSFS

Developer DC Designs has shared a large Facebook update regarding how things have progressed for the aircraft developer. The latest post goes into a lot more detail about some of the upcoming aircraft, but in particular for the F-14A Tomcat. The F-14A Tomcat was originally announced for Microsoft Flight Simulator back in the summer, but with some changes to the SDK and some advancements in how developers can interact with the flight model, DC Designs are now in full development mode for the fighter jet.

The newly released Facebook post from DC Designs also included a range of previews of the aircraft in action. For those wondering, the DC Designs F-14A Tomcat will be designed to be the “most visually realistic” looking F-14 seen for a Microsoft Flight Simulator and will come with moderate systems details. There will still be an emphasis on handling and fun, and with the learnings from the F-15 package, DC Designs is confident they can deliver a great aircraft.

As for features, DC Designs said that the aircraft will come with a fully operational variable-geometry with manual, auto and over-sweep modes, compressors stalls and realistic engine configurations for each version. In addition, a custom WWise sound pack for the different engine types will be present from launch, as well as the usually detailed manuals and paint kits for the community to get stuck into.

In addition to talking about the F-14A Tomcat for the simulator, it was also said that once the Tomcat is out, the focus will turn to the Concorde and the P-47 Thunderbolt. Whilst no concrete release date was given for either, it was said that development will fluctuate between the two to ensure that the developers don’t burn out.
