After showcasing some previews off earlier this week, Orbx has released TrueEarth US Southern California for X-Plane 11. The latest in their TrueEarth series features over 250,000 square KM of coverage including Los Angeles, San Diego and Catalina Island. The product will transform X-Plane to feature detailed ground imagery with impressive 3D modelling and autogen on top for an immersive experience.
According to the map published, Southern California will start coverage from the North near Mt. Whitney and Death Valley and expand all the way south towards the Mexican border including key cities such as Los Angeles and San Diego. Other destinations including Santa Maria, Palm Springs and many others are also included. There are also over 1000 hand-placed objects including famous locations such as the Hollywood sign.
Both an SD and HD version of TrueEarth US Southern California is available. Both versions feature the same impressive coverage area with the SD version featuring slightly reduced resolution to save on disk space and also yields better results on lower-end graphics cards. For the best experience, the HD version will provide those crisp textures. Whichever version you pick up, Orbx is running a temporary launch discount sale where you can save 20%.
Minor Update: Apologies, we mixed up the pricing with the wrong edition. This is now fixed and is accurate above.
