Orbx OpenLC Europe Updated to Version 1.30

A pretty significant update just happened on my FTX Central V3 account, bringing OpenLC EU to version 1.3.

According to Ed over at the Orbx forums, the update brings the product in line with their new city night lighting. As well as improvements, you will also be able to control the road and railway skirtings via the new Control Panel from within FTX Central V3.

You can see the results in the posted screenshots.

Simply load up FTX Central now and update directly through the great tool.

Orbx Releases FTX Global OpenLC North America

After many, many, MANY previews, Orbx have finally released their latest in the OpenLC series, North America.

As this is a FTX product, FTX Global is required, and it replaces your default scenery.

You can buy it NOW for $54.95AUD from the FlightSimStore, or you can find out more over at the Orbx website.

If you buy within the next 28 days, customers who purchased openLC Alaska/Canada, will receive $22.50AUD discount!

openLC North America now covers an area over 24 million square kilometres with FTX Global custom textures and new textures unique to openLC. FTXG openLC as the name suggests, replaces the default landclass layer with higher detailed and a better variety of land types. This in turn creates a more varied and accurate terrain with FSX or P3D. It has been specifically designed to work with both FTX Global Base and FTX Global Vector as part of the total simulator overhaul. With FTX Global and openLC North America you can now begin to explore the vast and beautiful area of North and Central America, Greenland as well as the Caribbean islands and Hawaii. Make sure to check the photoreal volcanoes of Popocatépetl, Iztaccihauatl, Colima, San Cristobal-Casita, Telica & Momotombo as well in your travels.

  • Hand crafted landclass for 24 million sq km.
  • Thousands of superb new textures
  • Greatly reduced texture repetition
  • Full five seasons support
  • New night lighting tech to major cities!
  • Made for FTX Global and Vector
  • Accurate cities, towns, villages

Orbx Open LC NA Central America – Possibly Releasing Next Week

As you can see by the glorious image above, Orbx’s FTX Global openLC NA Central America is already looking absolutely stunning. Having been in development for some time, we’re finally edging closer and closer to a possible release date.

Today, Orbx Master, John Venema, has confirmed that internally, they’re expecting to have a first release candidate on Saturday 23rd July. Providing this passes all the tests, then we can expect a release for the public sometime next week!

Considering we went from “beta is going well” to a release week, development has clearly gone very well.

As soon as this is out, we’ll let you know, alongside some first impressions soon after.

Massive Orbx Update – OpenLC NA, ORBX Store and More

John Venema from ORBX has updated the community with a HUGE range of topics that are currently on-going at ORBX HQ. I will briefly summarise each below, but you can check out the full thread over at the ORBX forums.

FTX Central V2.1 Migration

Orbx recently updated FTX Central to sync up all of your Orbx scenery so you don’t have to keep chopping and changing scenery. However, out of the 8,000 people who have updated, 1-2% have had some issues. Orbx delivering as usual have been working hard on a diagnostics tool to help people understand what the issues are, and what Orbx need to do to fix it.

It’s coming along nicely and an update will be inbound soon.

P3Dv3 Airport Ports

This is nearly done, and the last of the airports will soon be with us. Remember that this is probably the last time we’ll get free installer updates.

OpenLC North America

Beta testing is going well, with everything matching Google Maps very well. Their new night lighting will also come packed with the installer, which will also update OpenLC NA Alaska/Canada.

If you’ve already purchased NA Alaska/Canada, then you’ll be entitled to an AU$22.50 discount for the rest of the US. Not bad, not bad.
