Flight Simulation Association Launched

The team at FlightSimExpo has launched a brand new website called Flight Simulation Association, which is designed for simmers or pilots to learn more about the world of flight simulation. Following a number of developers and outlets teasing “something big” over the past few days, it’s been confirmed Flight Simulation Association will be a portal to help simmers with webinars, learning tools and other resources, including discounts on various partners.

“Like with FlightSimExpo, we are hoping to spur an independent, simmer-driven effort to promote our hobby,” says Evan Reiter, co-founder of FSA. “We think existing simmers will love the wide variety of product discounts, but we also hope they’ll get involved to share their ideas and experiences so we can build great resources for those joining our hobby for the first time.”

As a member of the association, you will be able to take advantage of discounts from various developers and partners. The likes of Orbx, FlyTampa, Flightbeam, Aerosoft and many others have all provided discounts of varying amounts.

“But it’s much more than discounts: we want people to help us build FSA together so we can continue some of the cool things we started doing at FlightSimExpo 2019,” continues Evan. “Imagine more advertisements for home flight simulation in real-world magazines and at Oshkosh and SUN ‘n FUN. What if, someday, there was a single place you could search for add-ons and airports across all platforms and developers? These are the types of things that become possible when you have an independent organization that works to support both flight simmers and developers.”

Beyond the seminars and discounts, full members of the Flight Simulation Association will be able to able to find local simmers using Simmer Search. You can connect to local simmers who opt-in and organise local meet-ups (when safe to do so).

To join the Flight Simulation Association as a full member, you will need to pay $30.00 USD a year to gain access to all of the membership benefits. A free limited trial is also available for you to check out some of the content and also take advantage of a limited number of discounts already available.

You can see the website here,

In addition to the launch of the new website, the team has also launched Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts.

Flight Simulation Association (FSA) is owned by FlightSimExpo, but it should be made clear that FlightSimExpo is still the annual event bringing simmers around the world together. FlightSimExpo is currently scheduled to take place on June 4th – 6th in San Diego.

FSElite has contributed to an element of the freely available resource, but we currently no other plans to add content to Flight Simulation Association.

FlightSimExpo 2020 Venue and Dates Announced

5996558 (1)

FlightSimExpo 2019 was a huge success. Nearly 1,700 people attended the show over the course of the weekend. Exploring the large exhibition show floor and enjoying countless seminars from flight simulator developers, enthusiasts and aviation experts. At the end of the busy weekend, Evan took to the stage to confirm that Las Vegas would be the event city for FlightSimExpo 2020. It has been confirmed that FlightSimExpo 2020 will take place during June 12th – June 14th 2020 at Tropicana Las Vegas.

Returning to where FlightSimExpo initially started, Las Vegas was chosen by the community in a series of online polls. Phil, co-founder of FlightSimExpo said, “We are once again excited to bring FlightSimExpo back to Las Vegas, and to the city voted on by the community. We used social media, surveys, and email conversations with developers over the past several months to pick the date and location that the community wanted most.”

Las Vegas is an exciting destination with plenty to see and do both during and outside of the event weekend. With easy transportation around the city, low airfares and plenty of social opportunities, Las Vegas is a great destination for the show. The team will be working with airlines, transport companies and local attraction hubs to arrange special discounts for attendees.

Friday June 12th will see the return of Captains’ Corner, an add-on event that sees various developers give talks on a range of simulation topics. Saturday June 13th and Sunday June 14th will see many exhibitors flood the show floor sharing new details on new products and giving you the chance to try things out. More news of exhibitors and seminars will be shared in a few months time.

As for the venue, Tropicana Las Vegas, it’s a DoubleTree by Hilton hotel and is centrally located on the Las Vegas strip. The hotel offers a range of activities within the hotel including an award-winning swimming pool, spa and fitness centre. The team at FlightSimExpo has negotiated a hotel room rate of an average of just $150 per night over three nights, which includes all taxes, resort fees, free parking, WiFi, 2-for-1 show tickets and cocktails, 2 bottles of water and more.

As for tickets and registration for the show, that will be made available this coming December. Ticket prices will be the same as in previous years. Starting December, a limited number of $50 tickets will go on sale, followed by $70 all-weekend registrations.

“Vegas was a great venue for the inaugural FlightSimExpo, and we look forward to returning there in 2020,” says Evan Reiter, co-founder. “Attendees from the west coast kick-started FlightSimExpo in 2018. For those who couldn’t join us in Orlando: we look forward to seeing you again! And for those who attended both, we think you’ll love the Tropicana this year.”
