Aerosoft Updates A330 Professional to Include CPDLC

Aerosoft A330 Professional Release (7)

Aerosoft has released a brand-new update for its A330 Professional on Prepar3D v4 and v5. The new stable release introduces Controller–pilot data link communications (CDPLC) as the primary new feature to the update. Using the Hoppie network, you will now be able to receive flight ATC data and messages directly within your aircraft.

The new networking capabilities mean that VATSIM and IVAO controllers can send you data such as ATIS directly into your aircraft. The controller does also need to be connected to the Hoppie network to ensure this works. Other users connected to Hoppie can also send you messages. In addition, the ATSU for the aircraft can also send data to the ATC during your flight.

In addition to the new CPDLC, some improvements to the aircraft have also been made. The changelog lists that major improvements have been made to the checklist and view system (two elements we suggested needing improvements in our review), along with a possible bug fix for the external power not working in some aircraft states.

You can get the update now through the Aerosoft Updater tool. If you don’t own the Aerosoft A330 Professional, you can get it now from Aerosoft for €58.78.

Hands-On With the Aerosoft A330 Professional

During this 20-minute hands-on, Daan was thrown into the deep end to

Aerosoft A330 Professional Working Towards December Release

Project Manager Mathijs Kok has taken to the Aerosoft forums to inform the community on the plans for the release of the long-awaited A330 Professional on Prepar3D V4.  The forum post made it clear that everything is "tentative and subjects to change," but this is the first we have heard of a release time frame in a long time from the developers. Firstly, the

Aerosoft A330 Professional PBR Previews and EFB Teaser

Aerosoft A330 Pbr Efb Prepar3d (3)

We know, we know – we shared a few preview images from the Aerosoft A330 Professional just yesterday, however, some more, perhaps more relevant, previews have been shared. This time, some new previews showcasing the PBR applied to the external modelling has been showed off, along with some night lighting.

In addition to those previews, a brief teaser image of the built-in EFB has also been shown off by Mathijs Kok. The EFB is sadly powered off so we don’t get too much of a look-in at this time. It has been confirmed that the EFB will appear in the smaller Airbus aircraft developed by Aerosoft.

Finally, a brief update on the current status was shared with some issues currently on-going, in particular with the gear mechanisms. Here’s what Mr. Kok had to say:

“Well actually that is one of the things that is delaying the release. As you know the main gear of the A330 is very complex and rather unique. The only way to model this correctly is using InverseKinematics but we would need two additional contact points which simply are not there.  We have spoken abut this with Lockheed and they can’t make any promises on that. The only way out of this is to simply start inputting numbers and with loooong experiments get the right animation. Days, perhaps weeks. It’s can’t be calculated.”

As always, you can check out the full preview thread here.

Aerosoft Preview A330 Professional in Lufthansa Livery

Aerosoft A330 Professional Lufthansa FSElite2
While many were pleased to see the Aersoft A330 Professioal being shown off, some were less than thrilled seeing it in the same DragonAir livery nearly every time it was shown off, and quite understandably so. That changes today with a "small Friday update" from Aerosoft developer Stefan Hoffmann, where he shows off his current work on the Lufthansa-skinned A330!

Aerosoft Continue to Preview A330 Professional

Aerosoft A330 Professional Previews FSElite 6
While it may seem like Aerosoft are previewing the A330 Professional every week, most of the previews thus far have been relatively the same; the external model, usually focusing on the fuselage, gear, or engines. Today, finally, we have some variety in the previews (if cargo bays are your thing). Nothing else was provided, but we'll keep our eyes peeled
