Kuro’s Freeware B787-8 Updated to V2

Freeware creator Kurorin’s freeware Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner has received a major update, being dubbed ‘V2’ over on the product’s page at flightsim.to

The update takes advantage of some of the huge changes that were introduced to Microsoft Flight Simulator’s Boeing 787-10 which is included in the base game for owners of the Premium Deluxe Edition of the simulator.

That most recent update, dubbed ‘AAU2’ (aircraft and avionics update 2) saw a team of developers at Working Title (who are working in partnership with Microsoft) go in and overhaul the default avionics included with the base game’s Boeing 747-8 and 787-10 aircraft, adding a whole host of new system complexity, functionality, and procedural compatibility.

The update has proven popular with users of Microsoft Flight Simulator since it dropped about 10 days ago, and Kuro’s 787 mod has also seen an upsurge in popularity as a result. The V2 mod completely removes the requirement for the Heavy Division mod, which was previously needed to run some of the more complex systems.

The Boeing 787-8 is a more popular variant of the long hauler than the 787-10 and is operated by a wide range of carriers across multiple continents including TUI Airways, Qatar Airways, Air India, American Airlines, Kenya Airways, Japan Airlines and Air Canada. However, the most popular variant of the Dreamliner in the real world is the -9, and at present it appears nobody is working on that aircraft (at least not publicly).

The developer Kurorin has also continually updated a rolling FAQ page which addresses concerns and problems which users have run into, as well as a SimBrief page so that users wishing to generate accurate flight plans can properly calculate fuel burn, payload and other flight critical values.

The updated Kurorin Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner can be downloaded here.
