Update: Slight change to the title to better reflect what’s actually happening.
Admittedly, this escaped our attention simply because none of the team use FlightSim Store anymore to buy or download our products. However, it has been brought to attention that FlightSim Store is currently unable to process downloads for many products hosted on their servers. According to the message at the top of the screen, the “primary file server is currently undergoing maintenance“.
We believe that this has been down for a few days already, and currently there appears to be no time frame on when the products will be readily available to download. Other than the vague message of it is expected to last “several days”. For those buying products from the store, this surely doesn’t give them much confidence. There has been talk via their Facebook page that the store will be up again over the weekend.
Currently, you are able to explore the site, sign in as usual and also buy new products – just not download them.
Because of the extended down-time, rumours began circulating regarding the reason it has taken so long. The FlightSim Store then responded via Facebook with the following comment:
We tend to pay very little attention to rumours. The main content delivery seed server has required unexpected maintenance. That’s really all there is to it. It is very unfortunate that it is taking so long but we are at the mercy of the service provider.
We’ll continue to monitor the situation and hope that the store comes online again shortly.
