In a generous move by the developer XCaptain, X-Plane 11 users can now download the rebooted freeware rendition of the popular American airport Philadelphia International.
In a post via the X-Plane.org forum, XCaptain has announced the release of this big project along with a host of improved features commonly seen within payware scenery addons.
Situated in the state of Pennsylvania, USA, Philadelphia International airport is the 20th busiest airport in the USA and is the main Northeast hub for American Airlines and a regional cargo hub for UPS Airlines. Other popular domestic carriers frequenting this airport include Southwest Airlines, Delta and Frontier contributing to the 31 million passengers passing through it by the end of 2018.
Included within this release are two versions, one with grass for higher-end systems and one version without grass for lower-end systems. The eye-candy of PBR effects and ambient occlusion has been added for increased immersion. The airport contains custom 3D models of all terminals and prominent buildings and is accurately modelled using 2019 data. Static aircraft can be seen scattered around the airport along with highly detailed dirt and grunge effects on the ground. This is all complemented by animated marshallers and ground crew. The city of Philadelphia and its animated waterways has been included and will be a welcome addition for VFR pilots.
