X-Plane Developer X-Crafts released its long-anticipated rendition of the ERJ Family 2.0 for X-Plane 12. Unlike the E-Jets Family which covered the under-wing engined jets in the Embraer lineup, the ERJ family consists of the smaller, tail-engined variants of the Embraer fleet including the 135, 140, 145/XR, and Legacy 650 intercontinental business jet.
Regardless of the variant pilots choose, each airframe comes equipped with the same level of systems fidelity. An authentic FMS and autopilot with all modes implemented is included. The FMS is VATSIM ready with capability for HOLDS, flyover waypoints, DME arcs, and intercepts.
Electrical, fuel, hydraulic, pneumatic, anti-ice, and APU systems are included and feature realistic systems tests. The EICAS features accurate warning, caution, and advisory logic, while an authentic thrust rating system allows for realistic derates.
The avionics suite features 5 displays with custom navigation maps, full synoptics pages, individual captain and first officer displays, integrated weather and terrain radar compatibility, and interactive, resizable pop-up displays for multi-monitor setups.
X-Crafts cautions that while passenger variants of the ERJ family do not have VNAV or auto-throttle in real life, some Legacy aircraft do. However, the functionality is not currently simulated.
A handcrafted, highly-detailed, and optimized 3D model features a fully retextured interior, a new landing gear model with optional clean or dirty textures, true-to-life sounds with noise-cancelling headset simulation, a customizable sound environment, and VR compatibility.
Pilots can manage ground services, door controls, weight and balance, view SimBrief payload details, perform takeoff and landing calculations, use interactive checklists, and manage aircraft settings all through an integrated EFB tablet available in all variants of the ERJ family. It’s also compatible with Avitab.
AirComms Intelligent Flight Guidance is a new interactive, on-screen guidance system that helps pilots stay on track throughout the flight. It offers step-by-step assistance from startup to shutdown, timely reminders for important actions, built-in tutorials for walking pilots through the demo flight, and helps both experienced pilots and newcomers alike. Once pilots are familiar with the aircraft, the system can be disabled entirely.
X-Crafts spent years working with ERJ pilots to develop a realistic simulation and capture the true spirit of the ERJ jets. According to the developer, the ERJs feel alive due to their hands-on feel and incredibly fun to fly nature. Regional flights under an hour give pilots the opportunity to fly more takeoffs and landings, and unique personality traits make every flight feel different in the ERJ.
