WorldFlight Charity Event with Team JetSim

Team JetSim have been around since 2016 doing charity events that cover the Globe. They’re back again this year and are planning on doing something bigger and better than ever before.

During Flight Sim 2018 at Cosford this year, I was lucky enough to meet members of the team and talk about their participation in this year’s WorldFlight. Starting on Saturday, November 3rd, the 14-pilot team will be working 7 days straight to fly the 737-800NG around the world in a realistic fashion.

Starting in Sydney, the team will be venturing to a range of destinations including Singapore, Male, Cape Town, Barcelona, Leeds, Maderia, Vancouver, Minneapolis and many, many more. The trip is looking to take around 155 hours, or if you prefer, 1.8% of the entire year.

The team will be doing all of this in aid of a fantastic cause: CALM – the Campaign Against Living Miserably in the UK. Suicide is the biggest killer to men under 45. Men make up 76% of suicides in the UK and the fatality rate from attempted suicide is extremely high. The stereotype of men being masculine and not strong enough to talk about emotions are known to be some of the major factors.

CALM operates an extensive helpline via the website, call centers and online web chats. Their aim is to support, challenge and change policy and practice to better support those that are in need of any kind of help.

This year, Team JetSim are looking to raise £7000 for CALM. To try and reach this goal, the team will be live-streaming the entire event via their Twitch page. You’ll be able to participate with the guys, ask questions, see their 737-800NG sim and more. Plus, they are also offering prizes from a variety of developers and publishers including A2A, PC Pilot, Orbx, FSLabs & LatinVFR. The team also has a TrackHat Clip Plus set to give away.

If you’re looking to donate, you can do so via their JustGiving page.

You can connect with the guys through their site, Twitch, YouTube, Facebook or even Discord. All the links are below.

We wish all teams the best of luck and urge you to check them out during the event.
