Microsoft and Asobo Studio have released World Update 22 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, shifting the focus away from cities and countries to showcase some of the United States’ most spectacular natural landscapes. Released as part of the country’s 250th anniversary celebrations, the free update enhances dozens of national parks, forests, and iconic landmarks across the country.
World Update 22 adds more natural beauty to your sim, bringing improved scenery to 31 Areas of Interest using updated photogrammetry, digital elevation models, and enhanced terrain data. Alongside these are 46 Points of Interest, including visitor centres, lodges, lookout points, resorts, and famous natural landmarks such as Delicate Arch, Shiprock, and Totem Pole.
One of the biggest additions is the debut of Guided Tours, a brand-new activity type for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. These narrated experiences combine sightseeing with educational commentary, allowing pilots to learn about both the natural and human history of each location while flying.
The first three Guided Tours include:
- Bryce Canyon National Park in the Airbus Helicopters H125
- Grand Canyon National Park in the Draco X
- Grand Teton National Park in the Diamond DA62, featuring a handcrafted version of Jackson Hole Airport (KJAC) developed by Gaya.
Beyond the new tours, World Update 22 also expands the simulator’s activities with nine Discovery Flights, covering destinations including Acadia, Arches, Crater Lake, Dry Tortugas, Everglades, Great Smoky Mountains, Olympic National Park, and Zion National Park.
World Update 22 is available now as a free download for all owners of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. After updating the simulator, users can download the package through the in-sim Marketplace.
