WF Scenery Studio Releases Shanghai Pudong Airport for P3D

Following the developer’s recently published update on their future development plans, highly regarded developer WF Scenery Studio has released its rendition of Shanghai Pudong International Airport (ZSPD) for Prepar3D.

Being one of two major international airports servicing the Chinese city of Shanghai and its surrounding area, Shanghai Pudong International Airport (ZSPD) is located 19nm to the east of Shanghai’s city center and, in 2018, saw 74 Mio. Passengers pass through its two passenger terminals. Together with its impressive cargo handling facilities, the airport is regarded as the third busiest airport in mainland China and is only surpassed by Hong Kong International Airport and Beijing Capital International Airport. The airport also serves as a hub for many domestic and international carriers, including Air China, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, and DHL Aviation, and FedEx, to name but just a few.

On an interesting side note, the airport is connected to Shanghai’s city center via the Shanghai Maglev Train Line, the oldest continually operating magnetic, elevated train line in the world. Having begun operation in 2004, the trains circulating on the line can achieve top speeds of up to 268mph (431km/h), thereby making it the fastest electrified train line in the world.

Following the recent publication of additional previews, renowned scenery developer WF Scenery Studio released its rendition of this important passenger and cargo aviation hub for Prepar3D users to explore. The highly anticipated scenery comes included with many state-of-the-art features, including a highly-detailed rendition of the airport, extensively used PBR textures, PBR wet-ground effects, and, for train aficionados such as myself, an animated Maglev train.

The scenery is now available for purchase via the simMarket online store and will set you back €26.90 Ex. VAT.

Sadly, as already covered in a previous post, the developer has, in light of recent piracy events, decided to suspend the development of any new sceneries for the Prepar3D platform, effectively ending a chapter in WF Scenery Studio’s history books.
